Avice De was born about 1058 in Brione, Normandy, France.  Avice De's father was [Lord De Bienfai Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl De Clare [Lord De Bienfai and her mother was Rohese Giffard.  Her paternal grandparents were Count D'eu& Brionne Gilbert "Crispin" De Gilbert De Count D'eu& Brionne/Brienne and Gunnora De Aunou; her maternal grandparents were Seigneur Of Longueville Walter I Giffard Seigneur Of Longueville and Agnes Agnes Flatel. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Roger Fitzrichard De, Walter Fitzrichard De, Richard Fitzrichard De, Robert (Fitzrichard) De, Gilbert Fitz Richard De, Rohese Fitzrichard De, Ronais Fitzgilbert De, Adeliza De, Avoise De and Hawise De.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.
