Alice de was born about 1093 in Clare, Suffolk, England.  Alice de's father was Gilbert Fitz Richard de Clare , Earl Hertford and her mother was Adeliza de Claremont.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard FitzGilbert 1st Earl de Clare and Rohese Giffard; her maternal grandparents were Hugh de Creil Count of Clermont and Margaret de Roucy. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Baldwin FitzGilbert de, Richard FitzGilbert de, Gilbert de, Hawise de, Agnes de, Margaret de and Rohesia de.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  She died about 1163.

‌Alice de and Aubrey II de were married in a religious ceremony about 1108 in Suffolk, England.  They had three sons and four daughters, named Aubrey III de, Robert de, Geoffrey de, Rohese de, Juliana de, Adeliza de and Alice de.
