William De was born about 1070 in Of Glentham & Caenby, Lincolnshire, England.  William De's father was Ralph Sire De Ralph Ralph De and his mother was Maud De Maud De Wateville. He had four brothers and a sister, named Ralph De, Philip De, Alexander De, Roger De and Sibyl De.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
