Maud de was born about 1282 in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Maud de's father was Patrick de Chaworth , Lord of Kempsford and her mother was Isabel de Beauchamp. Her maternal grandparents were William de Beauchamp , 9th Earl of Warwick and Maud FitzJohn. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Hugh Baron le, Philip I le, Aline le and Isabel le.
