Matilda (Mabel) was born about 1230 in Otterham, Camelford, Cornwall, England.  Matilda (Mabel)'s father was Oliver de Champernoun , of Ilfracombe and her mother was Wymarca.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry de Champernoun , of Ilfracombe and Rohese de Tracy. She had a brother named Henry.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died before 1269.

‌Matilda (Mabel) and William de were married in a religious ceremony in 1st wife.  They had a son and a daughter, named Reginald de and Joan de.
