Richard was born about 1127 in Bosworth, LEIC, Eng..  Richard's father was Richard Camville and his mother was Millicent of Rethel.  His paternal grandparents were Gerald Camville and Aethelaise (Alice) Vere; his maternal grandparents were Ct. Gervaise of Rethel and Elizabeth or Isabel of Namur. He had three brothers named Walter, William and Gerald. He had a half-brother named Robert of Fontney.  He died in 1176.
