Maud de was born about 1222 in Gower, Glamorganshire, Wales.  Maud de's father was William 6th Baron de Braose , Lord Abergavenny and her mother was Eva Marshal.  Her paternal grandparents were Reginald Baron de Braose , Lord Abergavenny and Grecia (Grace) de Briwere; her maternal grandparents were William Marshal , 4th Earl of Pembroke and Isabel de Clare , Countess of Pembroke. She had two sisters named Eve de and Eleanor de.  She was the second oldest of the three children.

‌Maud de and Roger de were married in a religious ceremony in 1247.  They had two sons and two daughters, named William de, Edmund 1st Baron de, Isabella de and Margaret de.
