Ranulf de was born about 1172 in Blandevil/Blundevil (Oswestry), Powys, Wales.  Ranulf de's father was Hugh de Kevelioc , 5th Earl of Chester and his mother was Bertrade de Montfort.  His paternal grandparents were Ranulph de Gernon , 4th Earl of Chester and Maud FitzRobert de Caen; his maternal grandparents were Simon III Chauve de Montfort , Count d'Evereux and Maud Countess of Evereux. He had six sisters named Amicia le, Maud of, Agnes of, Mabel of, Beatrix le and Hawise le.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died on October 26th, 1232 in Wallingford, Berkshire, England (dsp).  He was buried on November 3rd, 1232 in St Werburgh, Chester, Cheshire, England.
