Maud was born about 1088 in Belvoir Castle, Belvoir, Leicestershire, England. Maud's father was Roger Bigod , Earl of East Anglia and her mother was Adeliza (Alice) de Toeni , Heiress of Belvoir. She had a brother and three sisters, named Hugh, Cecily, Gunnor and Jane. She was the oldest of the five children. She died before 1136.
