Thomas III de was born about 1283 in Berkeley Castle, Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England. Thomas III de's father was Thomas II "The Wise" 1st Baron de Berkeley and his mother was Joan de Ferrers. His paternal grandparents were Maurice I "The Resolute" de Berkeley , Sir and Isabel FitzRoy; his maternal grandparents were William III de Ferrers , 5th Earl of Derby and Margaret de Quincy. He had a brother and a sister, named Maurice II "Magnanimous" 2nd Baron de and Margaret de. He was the youngest of the three children. He died before April 1346 in Coston, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England.General Notes
