His paternal grandparents were [Baron Berkeley] Thomas "The Wise" The [Baron Berkeley]/Berkeley and [Baroness Berkel Joan De Ferrers [Baroness Berkel; his maternal grandparents were Eudo (Eon) La Zouche and Millicent De Cantilupe. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Thomas IV "The Rich" 3Rd Baron De, John, Peter, Eudo (Ivo), Eleanore, Milicent (Ela) De and Isabel De.
