Adeline de was born about 1096 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.  Adeline de's father was Robert I de Beaumont , 1st Earl of Leicester and her mother was Isabel Elizabeth de Vermandois. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Waleran de, Robert II de, Isabel Elizabeth de, Eleanor de, Alice de and Maud de.  She was the oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William de, Reginald de, Ada de and Gundred de.
