(c) The castle of Ivry was built by Aubree, wife of Ralph of Ivry, Count of Bayeux. It was afterwards in the possession of her son Hugh, Bishop of Bayeux, from whom it was taken by Robert I, Duke of Normandy, after standing a siege, and thereafter remained in the possession of the Dukes or of castellans appointed by them until 1087.
