Aline was born in 1246 in Wooten Bassett, Wiltshire, England. Aline's father was Philip Basset , Sir and her mother was Hawise de Lovaine. Her paternal grandparents were Alan Basset , Lord of Wycombe and Aline de Gai; her maternal grandparents were Matthew de Lovaine , Sir and Muriel. She was an only child.
