Thomas was born about 1186 in Of, Skelton, Yorkshire, England. Thomas' father was Peter (Piers) BRUS and his mother was Joan Mrs BRUS. He had five brothers named Peter (Piers), Simon, Roger, Robert and William. He was the third youngest of the six children.
