Agnes de was born about 1117 in Holderness, Yorkshire, England.  Agnes de's father was Stephen Count de Aumale , Earl of Holderness and her mother was Hawise de Mortimer.  Her paternal grandparents were Eudes Count of Aumale & Champagne and Adelaide of Normandy , Countess of Aumale; her maternal grandparents were Ralph de Mortimer and Milicent Ferrers. She had a brother and a sister, named William le and Ada d'.  She was the youngest of the three children.
