Richard was born about 1250. Richard's father was Sir Thomas Astley and his mother was Joane Bois. His paternal grandparents were Walter Astley and Isabel; his maternal grandparents were Ernald III Bois and Joan Beauchamp. He had a brother and a sister, named Andrew of A & Bentley and Isabel. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Ralph.General Notes
