Matilda was born in 0946 in Saxony, Germany. Matilda's father was Duke Herman Billung and her mother was Hildegarde de Westerbourg. Her paternal grandparents were Billung of Saxony and Alda (Ferderunda) UNKNOWN; her maternal grandparents were Count Lothar II UNKNOWN and Swanhilde UNKNOWN. She had a brother and a sister, named Bernard I and Swanhilde. She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 62 on May 15th, 1008.-
