He had ten half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Charles "The Younger", Pepin, Louis "The Pious", Aupais, Rothaid, Theodrade, Drogo, Hugo, Richbod, Theodoric, Rotrude, Bertha, Lothaire, Gisele, Hildegard, Adelheid, Hildrude and Adaltrude.
