Duke Gozelon I was born in 0967 in Verdun, Meuse, France. Duke Gozelon I's father was Count Gottfried de Verdon and his mother was Princess Mathilde of Saxony. His paternal grandparents were Gozelo von Ardennes and Uda Unknown ***; his maternal grandparents were Duke Hermann of Saxony and Hildegard of Saxony. He was an only child.
