Rhywallen was born in 1025 in Powys, Montgomery, Wales. Rhywallen's father was Prince Cynfyn ap Gwerystan and his mother was Queen Angharat ferch Maredydd. His paternal grandparents were Gwerystan ap Gwaithfoed and Nest ferch Cadell; his maternal grandfather was Prince Maredydd ap Oain. He was an only child. He died at the age of 45 in 1070 in Killed in battle, Wales.-
