Erlafred  II's father was Count Gerold von Vinzgau and his mother was Emma von Alemagna.  His paternal grandfather was Gerold de Mayenne; his maternal grandfather was Hnabi von Alemagne. He had two brothers and a sister, named Lord Hadrian, Count Ulrich  I and Hildegarde.
