Elizabeth was born about 1449 in Powderham Castle, Devon, Eng. Elizabeth's father was Sir William Courtenay and her mother was Margaret Bonville. Her paternal grandparents were Sir Philip Courtenay and Elizabeth Hungerford; her maternal grandparents were William Bonville and Margaret Grey. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Sir William, Edward, Philip, James, Catherine, Margaret and Joane. She was the second youngest of the eight children.-
