Gwenwynwyn Ap was born about 1151 in M, Wales.  Gwenwynwyn Ap's father was Owain Ap Gruffudd and his mother was Gwenllian Verch Owain.  His paternal grandparents were Gruffudd Ap Maredudd and Gwerful Verch Gwrgeneu.  He was an only child.  He died in 1216.

‌Gwenwynwyn Ap and Margred were married in a religious ceremony about 1199.  They had a son named Gruffudd Ap.
