Maud was born about 1279 in Connaught, Dublin, Ireland.  Maud's father was Thomas DE CLARE , Lord of Thomond and her mother was Julian FITZMAURICE.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard DE CLARE ,8th Earl of Clare and Maud DE LACY , Countess of Lincoln & Gloucester; her maternal grandparents were Maurice FitzMaurice FITZGERALD , Justice Ireland and Emmeline LONGESPEE. She had two brothers and a sister, named Gilbert, Richard and Margaret.  She died in Welles, Lincolnshire, England.
