Hlodvar was born in 0946. Hlodvar's father was Thorfinn Orkney and his mother was Grelod Caithness. His paternal grandfather was Einar Orkney; his maternal grandparents were Duncan Caithness and Groa Thorsteinsdotter. He was an only child. He died at the age of 41 in 0987.-
