Her paternal grandparents were Wigerich Thurgau and Kunigunde Lonegonde; her maternal grandparents were Eberhard IV Nordgau and Luitgard Tries. She had a brother and two sisters, named Fredrich, Luitgard and Lietgarde. She was the second oldest of the four children.-
