Jane Dorothy was born on November 29th, 1922. Jane Dorothy's father was Alfred Martin Erie and her mother was Jennie Dorthea Rudell. Her maternal grandparents were John Aaron (Johan Aaron Johnson) Rudell and Anna Beatta Christianson. She had three brothers and a sister, named Oliver John, Alton James, Loren Virgil and Cora Marian. She was the youngest of the five children.-
