Tressie Gertrude, known as Gertie, was born on March 29th, 1872 in Winfield,Putnam,West Virginia.1   Gertie's father was William Washington Dodd and her mother was Terressa Willow (Willie) Deardorf.  Her paternal grandparents were James Alexander Dodd and Susan Ann Elizabeth Meeks; her maternal grandparents were Peter Deardorf and Sarah Louise BAILEY. She had a brother and five sisters, named Charles Edward, Lilla B., Ida U, Annie Lois, Ledie May and Mertie.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Ivan E., Pearl W. and Goldie O..  She died at the age of 67 on January 28th, 1940 in Rural Charleston,Kanawah,West Virginia.  She was buried on January 30th, 1940 in Spring Hill Cemetery,Charleston.1 1 


Gertie's family with John William Greybill

‌Gertie and John William were married in a religious ceremony on June 9th, 1891 in Putnam Co,West Virginia.  They had four sons and three daughters, and also a child of unknown gender, named James William, Charles C, Stanley L, Fred Staunton, Ethel J, Mary Maysel, Mildred Irene and Greybill.
