Nathan was born on May 7th, 1736 in Lyme,New London,Connecticut.  Nathan's father was Richard II Brockway and his mother was Elizabeth Tiffany.  His paternal grandparents were Wolston Brockway and Hannah Briggs. He had a brother and five sisters, named Consider, Elizabeth, Abigail, Silence, Eunice and Tiffany.  He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Richard III, Jedediah, Rachael, Hannah, Sarah, Ruth, Lydia and Deborah.  He died at the age of 86 on August 11th, 1822 in Broadalbin,Fulton,New York.
