The Greene pedigree is under research and construction, an d should be
considered highly speculative at this point. Th at Thomas Green was the
husband of Jeane Green has not bee n proven. Further research on the
Green / Greene family i n early Lower Norfolk County, VA, is needed.

Milkey Hussey, Nicho. Caffeway , Henry Hills, Thomas Rope [note that six
people are appare ntly listed]. By assignment from Richard Owens.

poynt at the mout h of Loyds Creek, running along the maine River East by
Nor th & etc. to a poynt on the West side of GREENE'S CREEK & e tc. 400
acres granted to the said Green on 18 March 1662 an d 120 acres for the
transport of three persons: William Gri ndon, Robert Watson, and Edward
James. [FN:Cavaliers & Pion eers, Vol. I, p. 564:FN] Loyd's Creek,
mentioned above, app arently does not appear on modern maps, and this
writer ha s not determined its modern name. Peter Smith was another e
arly settler on this creek, and a James Smith seems to b e a relative of
Henry Culpepper, Jr., in this area a bit la ter. Perhaps these Smiths
were the ancestors of the Smith s who were associated with the Culpeppers
decades later i n Anson County, NC, and later still, in Washington and
Laur ens Counties, GA: PETER SMITH, 200 acres in Lower Norfolk C ounty, 9
December 1665, page 466 (567) [of Patent Book 5] . In a branch of the
Western Branch of the Elizabeth River , beginning on the East side of the
head of Loyd's Creek a t a marked hickory standing by Edmond Bowman's
marked tree s & etc., to a poynt at the mouth of the Reedy Branch & etc .
