Jane was born about 1468 in Of, Lanherne, Cornwall, England.1 Jane's father was John Arundell VII and her mother was Catherine Chidioc. Her paternal grandparents were John Arundell and Margaret Burghersh; her maternal grandparents were John Chidiocke and Catherine Lumley. She had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Thomas, Margaret, Thomasine, Ellen, Catherine, Elizabeth and Dorothy. She was the youngest of the nine children.
