Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Hunsberger Swartz and Katherine Temple; her maternal grandparents were John Zimmerla and Sarah Temple. She had three brothers and a sister, named Lorne William, Clifford Harold, Orville and Mabel Irene. She was the youngest of the five children.-
