Barnabus (Barney) was born about 1824 in Louth Township, Lincoln Co., Ontario, Canada.1 Barnabus (Barney)'s father was James McIntee and his mother was Elizabeth Stoner. His paternal grandparents were Barnabus (Barny) McIntee and Rebecca Slaught; his maternal grandparents were Peter Stoner and Margreitje Frolich. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John Henry, William Henry, Alexander, James Stephus, Peter St. Laird, Hannah S., Margaret, Catherine and Elizabeth. In 1851 James McIntee (age 13) was living with Barnabus and Sarah McIntee. The census listed him as a laborer. In 1861 he was still living with them but his age was listed as 12, but identified him as being over age 20 and was illiterate. He must have been 22 years of age. It is unknown who he belonged to.
