Mathilde Olave Bergerson 
Mathilde Olave was born in 1858. Mathilde Olave's father was Nils Bergerson and her mother was Elen Eriksdtr. Her paternal grandparents were Berger Nilsen and Mari Gudbrandsdtr; her maternal grandfather was Erik Nilsen. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Bernt Emil, Gustav Nicolai, Agnette, Agnes Emilie, Maria Birgitte and Emma. She was the second oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 89 in 1947 in Osceola, Iowa, US.General Notes
Matilda was the sister of Mae Birtha Bergersen & the grandmother of Marge Voss.
Matilda was the hired girl in the Persels family and at first the family did not believe she was good enough for them but they came to love her. She was a tiny person with a quiet wit.

Matilda was the hired girl for Isaac [Conklin] Persels family. She was a tiny person, just over 5 ft. tall, with a sly sense of humor. I asked one time how Grandpa had proposed to her and her reply was "He said 'Wilt thou?' and I wilted." She had fallen on the ice and broke her hip which left her with a decided limp but she wanted to do her share of the housework. She kept herself occupied piecing quilts, even after her eyesight made it difficult to thread needles. I used to thread several for her at a time so she could keep on with her piecing. After Grandfather died she lived with her various sons, spending time with each one until she became bedfast and had to be placed in a care center.
