Walter de was born about 1085 in Folkingham, Lincolnshire, England. Walter de's father was Gilbert de GAND GAUNT and his mother was Alice de MONTFORT. His paternal grandparents were Ralph de GAND and Gisele of LUXEMBOURG; his maternal grandparents were Hugh II 'Beard' Count de MONTFORT and Alice de BEAUFFOU. He was an only child. He died in 1139 in England.-
