John Sr Purvis 
John Sr was born in 1746 in Lothian,Scotland. John Sr's father was John Purvis and his mother was Elizabeth Melville. His paternal grandparents were William Purvis and Isobell Gillie; his maternal grandparents were Robert Melville and Elizabeth Dalrymple. He was an only child. He died at the age of 46 on June 11th, 1792 in Edgefield County,South Carolina.-
