Godwin's father was Wulfnoth De Wessex. His paternal grandfather was Athelmaer De Wessex. He was an only child. Godwin is no longer alive.
‌Godwin and Gytha were married in a religious ceremony in 1020 in Holland,Sweden. They had six sons and three daughters, named Harold II, Gyrth, Leofwine, Swein, Tostig IV, Wulfnoth, Edith, Elgiva and Gunhilda.
