William I, known as Longsword, was born about 0900 in Normandy,France.1 Longsword's father was Duke Rollo Rognvaldsson Of Normandy and his mother was Lady Poppa De Bayeux. His paternal grandparents were Earl Rognvald I (The Wise) Eysteinsson Of More and Princess Groa Ragnhild Hrolfsdoittir Of Trondheim; his maternal grandparents were Malahule Eysteinsson Of More and Lady Maud De Flanders. He had a brother and four sisters, named Robert, Adele (Gerloc), Gerletta, Kathlin and Crespina. He died in Picquigny Island,Somme,France. He was buried in Rouen Cathedral.1 General Notes
