Pedro Rodríguez's father was Diego Pérez Sarmiento (Sr. De Villarmayor) and his mother was María Velasco.  His paternal grandfather was Pedro Sarmiento; his maternal grandfather was Fernán Sánchez De Velasco.  He was an only child.

They had a son named García Fernández.
