Manoel's father was Pedro Ferreira Das Neves and his mother was Custódia De Amorim Valcácer.  His paternal grandfather was ? Ferreira Das Neves. He had five brothers and a sister, named Geraldo Ferreira Das, Luís Ferreira Das, Vicente Ferreira Das, João, Canuto and Antônia De Morais.
