Gustav was born on January 25th, 1789 in Müngsten (Alemania) and his baptism took place on January 29th, 1789 in Remscheid (Alemania). Gustav's father was Johannes Arnold Halbach Hasenclever Comerciante and his mother was Maria Gertrude Hilger Huetz. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Halbach Honsberg and Maria Catharine Hasenclever; his maternal grandparents were Johann Peter Hilger and Anna Maria Gertrude Huetz. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Arnold, Georg, Gertrude and Anna. He was the second oldest of the five children.
