Marguerite was born about 1340. Marguerite's father was Tanguy II Du Chastel and her mother was Typhaine De Ploesquellec. Her paternal grandparents were Bernard II Du Chastel and Eléonore De Rosmadec-Garlot; her maternal grandparents were Charles De Ploesquellec and Alix Droniou. She had a brother and a sister, named Guillaume and Thiephaine. She was the youngest of the three children.-
