His paternal grandparents were Guillaume Ier Tête Hardie De Bourgogne-Comté and Etiennette De Bigorre; his maternal grandparents were Gérard Ier Le Grand De Haute-Lorraine and Hedwige De Namur. He had a brother and a sister, named Guillaume Ier and Marguerite Ou Clémence. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 51 on January 22nd, 1141.General Notes
