Fernão Gonçalves De's father was Gonçalo Mendes , O Chancarel and his mother was Marinha Martins.  His maternal grandfather was Martinho Barregão.  He was an only child.

They had a son and two daughters, named Gonçalo Fernandes De, Marinha Fernandes and Senhorinha Fernandes.
