Mécia's father was Afonso Annes Da Rocha and her mother was Martha Pavoa.  Her paternal grandfather was Pedro Esteves Machado Da Rocha; her maternal grandfather was Afonso Rodrigues Pavão. She had a brother named Pedro Afonso Da.

They had a son and six daughters, named Brás, Mécia Afonso, André, Beatriz, Branca, Lianor Afonso and Margarida.
