Gerard was born in 1606 in Stafford, England.1 Gerard's father was Roger Fowke and his mother was Mary Bayley. His paternal grandparents were John Fowke and Dorothy Cupper; his maternal grandfather was William (Sir) Bailey. He was an only child.
