I am seeking information regarding the parents, siblings, and other ancestors of George Rowland. Any assistance in connecting him to any other Rowlands will be greatly appreciated.
George was born in Prince Henry Co., VA 1754. His birth parents are both unknown. He married Nancy Ramey, daughter of Daniel Ramey and Mary Mitchell(?). He migrated circa 1790 from Henry Co., Virginia to Spartanburg, SC. The death event for George Rowland is not recorded.
BIOGRAPHICAL TEXT: Family record as written for me by Cousin Lou Rowland. Sometime in the 1790's, after the Revolutionary War, George Rowland made a prospective trip to South Carolina from his Virginia home. The mode of travel in those days was mostly on horseback, as the country was infested with Tories and robbers. The famous "Murrel Man" were encountered by George Rowland, but having his money in leather saddle bags strapped on "Nande", a trained horse, he escaped after a few shots were fired by both parties. In making his selection he chose a farm owned by one Thomas Hathaway, situated 10 miles above Spartanburg Court House. Having purchased his farm, he returned to his native state of Virginia for his wife, children and negro slaves and brought them to a new home in South Carolina. He afterward bought other farms and several acres in the town of Spartanburg. (From the notes of C.S.)

I am a descendant of a Daniel White d 1848 Spartanburg Co, SC. I believe that my Daniel and your George Rowland were neighbors in Sptbg. Co? Daniel's Rev War Pension Papers state that he was born in 1761 in Orange Co, VA; served in the Rev War while a resident of Wilkes Co, NC where he was a bondsman at the wedding of a ROWLAND Judd; he was in Sptbg. Co by 1788; and he died there in 1848.
Is there any Rowland/White relationship that you know?
I would be most grateful for your input. Helen
