His paternal grandparents were Abbot Of Dunkeld Crinan and Bethoc MacKenneth; his maternal grandparents were Boete (Boedhe) of Scotland UNKNOWN and Elfleda of Bernicia. He had two brothers and a sister, named Malcolm III, Donald III and UNKNOWN.-
