Cadell was given the Kingdom of Seisyllwg by his father, Rhodri Mawr in the late 9th century. However, it is unclear how much
independence he managed to assert after his fathers death. His son, Hywel Dda (the Good) married the heiress of the King of Dyfed and
united the two kingdoms to become the first King of Deheubarth.
